After a lot of research, I chose Nuance Standard 3. I use Adobe Pro at work extensively, and while it's a powerful program, I certainly don't need all those bells and whistles at home. But with Nuance, I'm pleasantly surprised. What a difference from my old PC!

It runs smoothly on my new machine, and although I've only been using it for a few days, I've experimented with manipulating my pdf documents and it works like a charm and maybe it even has some of those bells and whistles I haven't found out about yet. Installation was super easy and the interface is intuitive due to its similarity to MS programs.

I haven't needed tech support so I can't speak to that, but so far I feel this software was well worth the money. Nuance has been bought out by Kofax and Kofax no longer supports installing software from CD's. I purchased this product from Amazon with the version that comes with a CD. The install CD worked fine but when I got to the activate software screen to input the serial number I got an error message that said I had provided an invalid serial number.

I contacted tech support. Kofax gave me a link to a software download site so ultimately Kofax power Pdf standard 3. My issue is that I don't like download links because after a few years the link to your purchased software becomes unsupported.

If your computer crashes or you buy a new computer after 4 years or so the software download link no longer works and you have to buy new software. I got a new computer in and my download link was no longer supported and their tech support could not remedy this.

I prefer to have a physical device to install or reinstall software should it become necessary. I think Kofax should include instructions on how to save an installation executable file if they are unwilling to take the extra customer satisfaction step of providing an installation CD or flash drive when purchasing their software. I love their program but not having the option of CD or flash drive installation option is very disappointing.
